The Speaker helps deliver Meals on Wheels

THE Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, took on a completely different role this week as he helped to deliver Meals on Wheels.
He was one of a number of well-known personalities who helped apetito deliver meals to residents across the country throughout National Community Meals Week.
Mr Bercow, who is MP for Buckingham, which covers Princes Risborough, said: "The meals on wheels service is a vital lifeline for many elderly people, enabling them to stay in their own homes for longer. Nutritious meals are only part of the package – it’s the human contact, the regularity of seeing somebody and having that engagement that has such huge benefits."
Operated from its Aylesbury depot, apetito is contracted by Buckinghamshire County Council.
The picture also shows Irene Simpson who has received Meals on Wheels since February and BCC vice chairman, Carl Etholen.
