High Wycombe motorcyclist dies after hitting rock in road

A ROCK left in the middle of the road appears to have caused the death of a motorcyclist in High Wycombe this morning, police have said.

The rider, a 52-year-old High Wycombe man, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, which happened in Daws Hill Lane in the early hours of this morning.

Officers from Thames Valley Police were called at 6.30am after the man, who was riding a blue Honda CBR motorbike, was found by a member of the public.

Police say that while the investigation remains at an early stage it appears a large rock had been placed in the road, which the motorcycle struck.

Officers have made an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area prior to 6.30am and has any information about the collision, or who saw any suspicious activity, should contact Sgt Grant Thomas of the Road Death Investigation Unit on 101, quoting URN 715 7/10.

I was affected by this road closure and was heading towards Daw's Lane from Flackwell Heath - I had to turn around and went down Abbey Barn Lane towards the London Road - where the traffic lights were not working at the Retail Park. London Road was crazy for a Sunday.

Even though it was a pain and I had a screaming 3yr old in the back - I went the very long way to get back to Cressex.

Yes it was inconvenient for all - but I could tell that something serious had happened along Daws Hill Lane, also being a motorbike rider - my thoughts go to the family.

A very sad and tragic end of life.

I hope that no-one placed that rock in the road on purpose because that would be just SICK and evil.

No as it happens mr Brooke's I don't care more about my inconvenience as my handle stats I am a recovery driver and am very aware that in the instance of a fatality SOCO ( not csi we're not in America ) is required I on quite a regular occurrence have to attend this sort of accident even sometime with blood still runny, and if you bothered to read my post you will see it states that my thoughts goto his family, my gripe is why the police diverted the traffic down a single track road
