Motorcyclist death: Daws Hill community in shock
2:00pm Wednesday 10th October 2012 in News By Simon Farr
DAWS Hill Lane residents have spoken of their shock after a motorcyclist died on hitting a concrete block deliberately placed in their road.
A 52-year-old rider from the Wycombe area was pronounced dead at the scene after coming off his blue Honda CBR bike at 6.30am on Sunday.
A bunch of flowers have been placed at the foot of a police sign at the site of the crash in tribute to the motorcyclist, who is expected to be formally identified by the Buckinghamshire Coroner’s office later today.
The death has rocked the community, with residents asking the same question; ‘Why?’
A resident told the Free Press: “It’s absolutely shocking; I can’t understand why anyone would do that.
“There’s something wrong, it’s absolutely crazy, I can’t believe it.”
Another resident said: “I think everyone is in a state of shock about the whole thing. Credit to the police, they closed the road off for a few hours and were very good, but why would you do something like that?”
Officers fear witnesses, who perhaps drove past the block without moving it or reporting it, could be too full of guilt to come forward.
The deputy area commander told the BFP yesterday: “Maybe they are too embarrassed, given what has happened.
“No-one is going to be chastised for that but we need to find out who did this. The public’s information could help us establish when that block was put in the middle of the road.”
Contact police on the non-emergency 101 enquiry line.
