Chesham gardening centre plans approved
9:10am Thursday 11th October 2012 in News By Andy Carswell
Chiltern District Council have approved the plans
PLANS to transform a gardening skills centre in Chesham have been approved.
A new purpose built horticultural skills area at the former Endeavour Centre can now be built in Cameron Road after Chiltern District Council gave the proposals planning permission last week.
The plans involve the refurbishment of the existing buildings, the demolition of one block and the erection of a new purpose built extension.
This will create a new vocational skills centre for youngsters aged 14-19 years old.
A council report said the development would consist of "relatively small scale buildings" and would not have a detrimental impact on neighbouring buildings.
The Endeavour Centre - a day care centre for people with learning difficulties - was closed by Buckinghamshire County Council in April due to cost cutting measures, but a garden centre alongside it remained.
Council bosses are looking at building a new day centre 'hub' in Chesham after plans to build one in Amersham fell through.
