Decision tonight on contentious pub to flats conversion

No more beer will be served at the Plough if councillors rule to allow the change to flats No more beer will be served at the Plough if councillors rule to allow the change to flats

A CONTROVERSIAL plan to demolish a pub and turn it into six flats looks set to get the go ahead tonight.

Officials at Wycombe District Council have said councillors should approve the proposals for the Plough in Little Marlow Road, Marlow.

The planning committee will sit at 7pm this evening to rule on the plans.

The reccomendation to give it the green light comes despite over 200 residents signing a petition against the scheme.

Members of the Green Verges Neighbourhood Watch Group have been campaigning against, saying that it will lead to traffic and parking chaos on an already blighted junction.

An initial plan from developers for seven flats was withdrawn after objections.

But The Plough Marlow Ltd has insisted it has worked hard to address all of the key concerns and will be an improvement on the now closed pub.

The owners said it was no longer viable as a pub due to high costs, strong competition and had also suffered from problems with anti-social behaviour.
