Hospital radio set for 24-hour 'live' marathon
WYCOMBE Hospital Radio is set to celebrate its 45th anniversary with a 24-hour marathon of live shows.
Some of the station’s regular schedule is run by a computer, but throughout tonight and tomorrow there will be consecutive live shows from each of its 16 presenters, as well as some past stars and young DJs.
They will be taking any requests and dedications from 6pm, with High Wycombe mayor Chauhdry Shafique also calling in for a chat near the start of the broadcast.
The station has been bringing music, news and sports commentaries to patients at Wycombe and Amersham hospitals since 1967, but has to raise about £1,000 each year to cover its costs.
The marathon broadcast will be backed up by a stand in the Eden Centre tomorrow, with volunteers collecting donations and taking track requests.
Patients and hospital staff can ring their requests into the studio using the bedside phone system, or by calling 01494 524400.
