A BABY and two women were “fortunate to escape serious injury” after their car left the M40 and ploughed through a fence into a field.
Firecrews from Beaconsfield and High Wycombe were called to the crash between junctions 4 and 3 of the motorway at 10.32pm last night.
Watch manager Neil Bressington said officers followed the trail of debris from the southbound carriageway into a field some distance away from the road.
All three people, including a baby girl, in the silver Citroen vehicle were unharmed and were led back to an ambulance for a check up.
Watch manager Bressington said: “The car had passed through a fence and a hedge into a field. We found it by following the trail of debris.
“When we got to the car, we found the two female occupants and a baby in the vehicle. They were obviously startled but otherwise fine.
“We helped them out of the car and walked them back to an ambulance waiting on the hard shoulder. They were fortunate to come away without serious injury.”
