Man kidnapped as men steal phones from warehouse

A MAN was forced into a van and driven to a warehouse by thieves who then stole a lorry containing a large quantity of smartphones.

The 47-year-old was driving along Daws Hill Lane at 8.17pm on Friday when he was pulled over by the driver of a dark Audi and a white transit van.

The man was bundled into the back of the van, while his Vauxhall combo van was torched, and driven to a warehouse in Loudwater, police said.

He was then forced to open the warehouse for the six men who stole a white lorry containing a large quantity of Samsung Galaxy S3 phones.

The victim was then put back in the van and believes the men stopped in Rayners Lane to dump some items – before he was pushed out of the vehicle by the side of the A355 towards Beaconsfield.

Police say the gang transferred the phones from the lorry to the transit van in Pyebush Lane in Beaconsfield at 10.30pm before driving off.

Officers have now launched an appeal and have urged anyone who may have seen anything or have been offered a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone to come forward.

Det Sgt Sally Spencer, investigating, said: “Fortunately the man was not seriously injured but has been left distressed by the ordeal and we are keen to find whoever is responsible.

“We believe that there was a group of around six people involved in this incident and I urge anyone with information to come forward.

“At this time, we believe that the offenders were white and black males wearing dark clothing and wore balaclavas.

“This took place in several different areas over a two and a half hour period and we know numerous people have witnessed parts of it.

“Similarly, if you are offered a Samsung Galaxy S3 mobile phone for sale, please contact the police.

“People may think that what they have seen is trivial but it may help to build a picture to identify the vehicles and offenders”
