Nudists surprise spring time strollers looking for Vicar of Dibley's Turville setting

Turville: Viewers knew it was the village of Dibley in the BBC show. It is a popular spot for walkers Turville: Viewers knew it was the village of Dibley in the BBC show. It is a popular spot for walkers

IT WAS set to be a pleasant spring time stroll taking in the beautiful scenery of the Chilterns – and visiting the village where the Vicar of Dibley was filmed.

But three women in their sixties, staying in Marlow, saw more of nature than they bargained for when visiting Turville.

To the amazement of Janet Dann and her two school pals three nudist walkers appeared.

The naked trio, two elderly men and a woman, were the surprise sight witnessed by the friends as they walked from Ibstone to Turville.

Mrs Dann said: “We were walking along the hillside in Idlecombe Wood when we saw in the distance three very tanned naked people.

“Immediately, the two gentlemen stopped and took out small towels from their rucksacks and wrapped them around their waists, whilst the lady covered herself loosely in a sarong.

“We waited and pretended to look at the map and the view of the valley whilst this was happening and then approached the group whereupon the first gentlemen said 'You took us by surprise'.”

Mrs Dann and her friends have been meeting for Spring walking weekends the past three years and were staying at a bed and breakfast in Marlow Bottom.

As fans of the Dawn French BBC clerical comedy they wanted to see Turville, where the show was based She said: “On reaching Turville we related the incident to one of the residents who had been telling us about the filming of the Vicar of Dibley and Tom's Midnight Garden in the village.

“He roared with laughter and went on to tell his next door neighbours.”

Disgraceful! What is the world coming to if the countryside is teaming with naked people?

The countryside is teeming with naked : foxes, badgers, cats, horses, cows, sheep, etc etc etc. There really is little difference. In fact the only difference is you have an Ego, which has no material existence, it is just a hallucination in your mind that says I, and with this you manifest shame. I hope you don't consider yourself "Free". :)

What I'm saying is, that if a naked body offends you in some way, then you are in complete denial about what you are (a human being) and therefore must be at complete odds with yourself, your rants seem to back this theory up. You can blame your parents for this schizophrenia.

Brilliant -- celebrating and experiencing nature as we were born to do. And well done at their age for doing it, the more people are comfortable with themselves the less there is panic, pain and judgement of others!

Fantastic!

I have just been doing some gardening and somehow managed to read it as " the two gentlemen took out two small trowels from their rucksacks..."..... so I had an altogether different picture in my mind for a second or two :-)

I don't believe this story. For starters Bill Bendyshe 'photo op' Brown hasn't been mentioned.
These things usually have him involved somewhere, although the sight of him without essentials is enough to put most people off.

Maybe Ivor Buggun should live up to his surname and do a regular naked walk around Wycombe, then we would all know who he is FINALLY!!!

And why not, indeed? I'm even considering taking to walking around Gerrards Cross naked this weekend.

I love it.

Isn't it a hefty walk from Marlow Bottom to Turville?

Great tale. made me laugh and pass it on to my mate.

We just got back from Gran Canaria, and went for a ride on the camels in maspolomas dunes. And like the donkeys on britains beaches they kno w the route without being lead. Anyhooo to cut a long story short, the kids were on the camels at the back playing eye spy and one pipes up eye spy with my little eye something begining with n, then nuddies. They werent wrong they were shall we say sunny side up lying by the side of the path. I tell you kids dont miss a thing.
