Half of readers cut back on Christmas gifts

Half of readers cut back on Christmas gifts Half of readers cut back on Christmas gifts

OVER half of readers are cutting back on gifts this Christmas, a Bucks Free Press poll suggests.

With the economic slump ongoing we asked how your spending has been affected.

28 per cent (135 votes) said they were spending significantly less, while 25 per cent (124) said they were holding back a bit.

However, 38 per cent (186) said their festive outlay was the same as normal and a small section, nine per cent (44) said they were actually spending more than they do typically.

I've used all the Christmas wrapping paper. So I'm now converting birthday wrapping paper by adding "Jesus" after "Happy Birthday" in marker pen. :-D

For those on low incomes Christmas is always a difficult time of year and the current economic climate is only compounding matters.

However the bankers who caused all this mess are living it up on massive bonuses while we all suffer.

If things carry on as they are I will be lucky to afford a tin of Spam from my Christmas dinner....

Why are you worried? I thought that you went to your neighbours for dinner.

Indeed I am hopeful of visiting my neighbour this year (no invitation as of yet though).

It's a terrible shame that I have to rely on the charity of others (i.e. my neighbour) and that I can't support myself....

Ah well - why don't you volunteer to help the homeless. How marvellous would it be if you went to one of the shelters to distribute xmas cheer. I am sure if you contacted Wycombe Homeless connection they would be delighted to have your help.
Then you could write a really worthy blog on the subject and it may persuade people to come back when they see how selfless you have been :)

I intend to write a blog about homelessness in Wycombe sometime in the New Year.
~
However.... I have worked my socks off recently and I need some time to relax over Christmas and recharge my batteries so unfortunately yours truly will not be able to do any voluntary work over the festive period. I can assure you that I always think of others first and myself comes last....

Oh of course - well aren't you lucky to have a job and a warm comfortable home to work your socks off in.
You don't need the self congratulatory rubbish either - no one believes it :)

Yes, I am lucky to have a roof over my head and a warm bed to sleep in. In fact I am thinking of writing a blog on how lucky we all are very soon.
~
I can assure you that I do not write rubbish!

Of course you are entitled to you opinion just as I am entitled to mine....

Are you going to volunteer to help the homeless over the festive season?

No because I have a houseful of people and I am not the one bemoaning my fate.
So please don't try and turn this around - you said that you were going to be alone. If I was alone that is exactly what I would do.

I forgot how tedious it was talking to you..bye for now. I am just off to watch some paint dry.

Maybe if you didn't supposedly eat the tins of biscuits you bought for people you'd get more invitations. You don't put other people first then...
