QUEEN are renowned around the world as one of the greatest rock bands ever. But last week they received a title they may be a little less proud of.

Queen's classic track Don't Stop Me Now was voted the song most likely to encourage people in Buckinghamshire to drive faster.

In a survey carried out by Oxfordshire-based law firm Darbys, 41 per cent of people asked said the sound of Freddie Mercury's voice made them drive faster.

Prodigy's Firestarter came second with 27 per cent, with Walk This Way by Run DMC and Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf joint third with 8.4 per cent of the vote.

But Martin Bourne, road expert for Darbys, issued a warning to those who let Freddie and co affect their driving.

He said: "The Crown Prosecution Service recently issued new guidelines which will mean that certain types of bad driving, like driving at excessive speed, are more likely to lead to a charge of dangerous driving, which carries a maximum two-year sentence and a minimum 12 month ban."

He added that he was surprised by the casual attitude taken by people in Buckinghamshire and that most seem to think it is acceptable to break the speed limit laws.
