Bank customers in High Wycombe could be rewarded for going the extra mile as part of a community scheme.

Last month the third Halifax Giving Extra Awards was launched in a bid to recognise and reward the people who give extra to help people in their community.

Following the success of the previous two years of the Giving Extra Awards, Halifax will once again be celebrating people in High Wycombe who give extra. Anyone can nominate those who work tirelessly to support their communities from today.

Jay and Jade Blades from High Wycombe won a Halifax Giving Extra Award earlier this year for their work with an up-cycling social enterprise.

At the time of winning they said: “It feels great to win a Halifax Giving Extra Award. It has made us feel really proud and has given us that extra positive boost and motivation to carry on the work we’re doing with Out of the Dark.”

As this is the Year of Giving Extra, Halifax is making the Giving Extra Awards bigger than ever before. Changes to the scheme include celebrating more top prize winners, holding special Giving Extra Days in branches across the country, and introducing a new way to nominate people who deserve recognition.

66 Halifax Giving Extra Award winners will receive £300 in bonus bonds vouchers in recognition of the work they do for others in their community.

From these winners Halifax will select seven regional winners – rather than just one national winner - and each of these will be provided with a grant of up to £5,000 to support projects that make a positive difference to communities.

Halifax Community Bank Managing Director Russell Galley said: “It is very exciting to launch the third year of the Halifax Giving Extra Awards and point the spotlight on exceptional people across the country.

“The stories of our winners from the last two years have been amazing and inspirational. We have received thousands of nominations for people who work tirelessly to support their communities over the years and look forward to hearing about even more.

“These inspirational people deserve to be celebrated and that is exactly what the Halifax Giving Extra Awards are all about. Celebrating and supporting individuals who contribute to good causes such as these is a key part of our Helping Britain Prosper Plan.”

Nominations can be made in branch or online at www.halifax.co.uk/givingextraawards until November 8, 2015.
