Businesses in Bucks are well placed to continue thriving despite the uncertainty posed by Brexit, according to a leading voice in business.
Philippa Batting, MD of the 800-member group Bucks Business First, says the strong performance of industry in the county to date should see it prosper as long as a new government department created last month acts swiftly on policy.
The business leader welcomed new Prime Minister Theresa May’s pledge to “get the whole economy firing”, alongside the creation of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
She said: “Buckinghamshire’s businesses should have every reason to be positive, not least because the county is, and will no doubt continue to be, one of few to deliver a return on investment to the Treasury.
“Our innovative technology, life sciences, food, space and creative industries fly the flag for Buckinghamshire and the UK all around the world - and beyond.
“I expect Buckinghamshire's businesses will continue to flourish in whichever environment they are trading.
“We now need more statements and policy decisions from the government to reassure us – and other nations around the world – that the future of UK business will be bright and that the UK remains a great partner to do business with.”
