Upgrading construction skills
A NEW project designed to improve and upgrade the skills of construction workers is celebrating the success of its first batch of employees.
Wycombe District Council is running the scheme, which is funded by the Learning and Skills Council.
Workers from Clive Drives Ltd, John Lee Contractors and SLN (Aylesbury) Ltd achieved their Level health and safety tests and Construction Skills Certification Scheme cards. The latest company to sign up is Linden Homes Thames Valley, with more in talks to join the initiative.
Cllr Jean Teesdale, WDC cabinet member for younger and older people, said: "We are working with construction companies to ensure a safe, competent and qualified construction workforce."
Any Construction Industry Training Board registered company can find out more by contacting WDC's community learning team leader on 01494 421 290.
