Three Lithuanian men who brutally kicked a father-of-two to death have been found guilty of murder.

Horace Wright, 43, of Swains Road, Colliers Wood, sustained fatal injuries in a vicious stamping attack after stepping in to resolve a dispute about the noise three of the men's female friends were making.

Aurelisas Pranskaitis, 24, of Warren Road, Colliers Wood, Vilius Silingas, 31, and Arvydas Kunickis, 24, both of Flanders Crescent, Tooting, launched the attack on Mr Wright after a boozy birthday celebration on October 2 last year.

The Old Bailey heard that Mr Wright had been listening to music in his car when he was disturbed by noise from the women, who had returned from an off licence near Shrewton Road, Tooting.

Mr Wright got out of his car, while his neighbour snatched one of the women's bottles and poured it away.

When the three men approached, the neighbour is said to have thrown a bottle at Silingas and fled, leaving Mr Wright to face the trio on his own.

Andrew Mitchell, prosecuting, said: "Mr Wright was trying to calm the situation down. The three of them turned on him.

"He was on the ground, they were kicking and stamping on him. One of the witnesses said one of them 'went a bit mad'. He curled himself up like a little baby but they continued to kick and stamp on him."

Mr Wright was taken to St George's Hospital but died the next day.

A post-mortem revealed he died from multiple injuries.

DCI Mick Duthie said: "Mr Wright was an innocent party who had stepped in to help resolve a noise dispute in the early hours of the morning in a quiet street in Mitcham.

"The court has heard how on three separate occasions, the defendants returned again and again to assault Mr Wright.

"I would like to thank all the witnesses who came forward and assisted in the prosecution.

"I hope now that with the conclusion of the court case the Wright family will be able to move forward with their lives."

The men are due to be sentenced on July 7.
