A DRIVER has died after a car crash, which also left another motorist in hospital.

Details of the collision have been released this morning by Thames Valley Police, which said the accident occurred yesterday around 3.35pm on the A418 Aylesbury Road.

A 61-year-old woman from Hertfordshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, driving a blue Ford Focus, was heading to Aylesbury.

Her vehicle collided with a red and white Iveco recovery truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the recovery truck, a man from Bedfordshire, was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The A418 was closed for about six hours following the collision so an investigation could take place.
