A champagne firm in Marlow was hit by a break-in early this morning, with police alerted just hours after thieves struck at a nearby Waitrose supermarket – although this time the intruders left empty handed.

The Laurent-Perrier office on Chapel Street was broken into sometime overnight, with police called to the scene at around 6.15am. Officers say nothing was stolen from the site, which serves as a UK head office for the champagne producer.

The call-out followed an overnight theft at Waitrose, also on Chapel Street, at 1.56am. CCTV captured three men breaking into the store and stealing a quantity of cigarettes before making their escape.

Police said they are currently not able to give descriptions of the suspects.

They have not officially confirmed whether the break-ins are being linked at this time.

Later this morning, Lloyds Bank in Marlow’s High Street was hit by an attempted armed robbery, when a man reportedly tried to to take cash from a security guard inside the branch.

Officers were called out at 9.52am and have told the BFP the man was unsuccessful in his attempt.

No arrests have been made and police have not confirmed whether the man was armed, or whether the failed robbery might be linked to the earlier break-ins.
