A fresh appeal for information has been made by police officers investigating an assault in woodland in Cookham Dean last weekend.

A woman was assaulted by a man in the woods near Quarry Wood Road some time between 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, January 3.

Roads in the area, as well as the woodland itself, were cordoned off by police in the early stages of their investigation, but officers have not made public any further details on the exact nature of the incident.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Chief Insp Kevin Brown said he wanted witnesses who had seen the woman or man, either together or alone, in the area at the time to come forward.

He said: “We think they may have also travelled in a small silver vehicle in that area at that time.

“The man is white and may have been wearing a grey T-shirt and black jogging bottoms.”

The officer added: “I would like to reassure residents in Cookham Dean that incidents such as these are extremely rare and that Thames Valley Police is conducting a thorough investigation into the report of assault.

“Police officers have been and will continue to conduct house-to-house enquiries and patrol the area.

“I would also like to thank the local community for their patience while our investigation is ongoing.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting unique reference number 898 3/1.
