The “cowardly” High Wycombe shootings last year were “brutal and brazen”, the investigating officer has said.

Four people were jailed after a gang shot at rivals in a Totteridge carpark in May, resulting in one victim being left with serious head injuries.

Yesterday, the father of ringleader Umar Hussain, Iftikar Hussain, was jailed for threatening and intimidating witnesses during his son’s trial.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Richard Earl from High Wycombe Force CID, said: “This was a particularly brutal and brazen offence. The offenders took the law into their own hands to settle a dispute and attacked an unarmed group in a public park causing serious head injuries.

“The subsequent discharge of the firearm into the same group, later that evening, was a cowardly act which could have resulted in a fatal injury being inflicted.

“Following this, a concerted effort was made to interfere with the course of justice and intimidate the victims and witnesses, it is testament to the weight of evidence against Iftikhar Hussain that he was obliged to plead guilty to perverting the course of justice.

“I would like to pay tribute to the courage of the victims in giving evidence under difficult circumstances and the hard work by the prosecution team to bring the offenders to justice.”
