Vandals struck again in Castlefield on Saturday afternoon as a row of cars had their windows smashed.

At least six vehicles parked in a row behind each other in Longland Way were affected by the latest spate of violence – which came less than a week after cars parked on the same road were attacked.

The attack took place in broad daylight and one of the victims of Saturday’s vandalism had her car’s windows smashed for the second time in the space of a month.

The resident, who asked not to be named, told the Bucks Free Press: “I’d just gone in and heard a car alarm, which I thought was mine. I ran out the door, but within seconds he [the perpetrator] had gone.

“The first time was the second night it started, about four weeks ago. It’s such an old car my insurance company wanted to write it off.

“I had to do all the legwork myself and source the glass from a breaker’s yard. It took two weeks to have it all fitted privately.

“I was really, really angry it happened again – words fail me. I was so angry, I can’t tell you.”

She added however: “I just think they can do it to me a hundred times, they’re not going to break me.”

The latest spate of attacks took place at around 4pm and has been reported to police.

It is thought more than 200 cars have been attacked – either by having their windows smashed or having graffiti spray painted onto them – in the Castlefield area in the last month. So far eight people have been arrested and bailed in connection to the ongoing Thames Valley Police investigation into the violence.

Anyone with information on any of the vandalism can contact police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
