A man was punched and kicked in what police say was an “unprovoked attack” in High Wycombe this week.

The 24-year-old victim suffered bruising and swelling to his face, ribs and knees after being assaulted while walking through The Rye playing fields on Thursday, April 9.

As he approached the entrance of Wycombe Lido at around 9pm, he was hit on the head from behind.

When the victim fell to the floor, he was punched and kicked by the attacker.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to step forward with information about the assault.

At this stage of the investigation, there is no description of the attacker, but police believe the offender was a man.

PC William Stockwell, investigating officer at High Wycombe Police Station, said: “If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area or have any information that might help our investigation then please get in touch and help bring justice to the victim of this unprovoked attack.”
