A horse has been stabbed in the neck while resting in its paddock.

The animal, named Lionni, suffered a wound three inches deep and five inches long during the attack at its paddock near Chesham.

She has been examined by vets and is expected to make a full recovery.

An examination of the stable yard concluded there was nothing Lionni could have accidentally impaled herself on - leading police to suspect she was deliberately attacked.

Officers have now launched an appeal for people with information on the incident, which was discovered on Friday, May 8, to get in contact.

Anyone with information should contact the Chesham neighbourhood team by calling 101.
