Two High Wycombe men who were arrested after a series of early morning raids across the town are being held on suspicion of rape and running a brothel along with a catalogue of other alleged crimes.

A 44-year-old and 63-year-old man were among six people to be arrested as part of a large operation across the Thames Valley as detectives raided 11 properties.

Four homes in High Wycombe were searched by officers at 6am yesterday, with a further five properties in Aylesbury Vale, one in Wendover and one in Luton were also raided, leading to four other arrests.

The two men from High Wycombe remain in custody and are being questioned after being arrested on suspicion of a series of offences.

The 44-year-old man was arrested for one count of rape of a female under 16, one count of rape of a female aged 16 or over and one count of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years.

He was also arrested on suspicion of two counts of procure a woman to become a common prostitute, one count of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (heroin), one count of false imprisonment, one count of conspire to manage or assist in the management of a brothel and one count of commit an act or a series of acts with intent to pervert the course of justice.

The 63-year-old High Wycombe man has been arrested for two counts of rape of a female under 16, two counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16, two counts to procure a woman to become a common prostitute, one count of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A (heroin), one count of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B (cannabis) and one count of keep or manage a brothel for prostitution.

The warrants are in relation to an investigation into reports of historic child sexual exploitation between 1998 and 2004.

Ailsa Kent, Chief Inspector from Major Crime in Aylesbury, said: “Yesterday’s warrants were in relation to an investigation into reports of historic child sexual exploitation between 1998 and 2004.

“Child sexual exploitation is and will remain a Force priority and we are investing more resources than ever before to tackle this type of exploitation across the Thames Valley. Safeguarding and protecting victims robustly and vigorously is a priority.

“People in the local community may have concerns about today’s warrants and I would ask them to speak to their local neighbourhood policing teams.

Four other men also remain in custody having been arrested on suspicion of a series of offences.

  • A 74-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested for two counts of rape of a female under 16, one count of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years, one count to procure a woman to become a common prostitute and one count of false imprisonment. He remains in custody.
  • A 33-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested for one count of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years. He remains in custody.
  • A 36-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested for one count of indecent assault on a woman over the age of 16 years, one count of rape of a female aged 16 or over and one count of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A – (Cocaine). He remains in custody.
  • A 49-year-old man from Luton has been arrested for one count of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16 years, one count of false imprisonment, one count of procure a woman to become a common prostitute, one count of being the owner/occupier allow the premises to be used for unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl aged 13-15 and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with girl under 16 years.
