A man from Flackwell Heath has been fined more than £1,000 after pleading guilty to fly-tipping in woodland on two separate occasions.

Timothy John Smith, 53, from Woodside, was caught on camera dumping building material that he had brought to the area in his pickup truck on Spring Lane on June 2 and 11 last year.

Fly-tippers have been caught on camera abandoning rubbish at the site in Flackwell Heath before.

Mr Smith pleaded guilty at Wycombe Magistrates Court on January 13 and was fined £200 and ordered to pay full prosecution costs of £847.40.

He also had to pay a victim surcharge of £20, making a total to pay of £1,067.40.

A Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire investigator interviewed Mr Smith at a police station for the two separate offences, which he admitted during the interview and the case was prosecuted by Buckinghamshire County Council working on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire.

The waste partnership launched their ‘Illegal Dumping costs’ campaign in October 2003 to target illegal dumping and waste management offences in Bucks and has secured over 500 convictions against individuals and companies since then – averaging at least one per week.
