CCTV images of a man police want to speak to in connection with a ‘distressing’ sexual assault near The Rye last weekend have been released today.

At around 3.40am on Sunday, March 27, the victim, aged 18, was walking near Trinity Church, off the London Road, when she was confronted by a man she did not know and was sexually assaulted.

The woman called for help and the man ran off in the direction of the town centre.

Det Sgt Michael Anderson, from High Wycombe Force CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who recognises the person shown in the CCTV images as he may have vital information which could assist our enquiries.

“Detectives are continuing to investigate the sexual assault, which was obviously a very distressing incident for the victim. Officers are patrolling the area and anyone with any concerns should approach an officer and speak to them.”

Anyone with any information about the incident or about the person shown in the CCTV image can call the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 and quote URN 667 1/4.

To give information anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
