An 18-year-old man was threatened with a knife by two teenagers during an attempted robbery in Gerrards Cross on Saturday.

At around 1.30pm the victim was walking across East Common towards the town centre when he was approached by two teenage boys.

One of the boys pulled out a kitchen knife and demanded that the victim hand over his bag.

There was an argument and the two robbers then picked up some large sticks from the ground and repeatedly hit the victim over the head and upper body.

The victim was treated at Wexham Park hospital after sustaining a cut to his forehead, which required stitches.

The offenders - who ran off empty handed - are aged from 14 to 15, described as mixed race, both were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas or similar head coverings.

Det Con Richard Bates, of Local CID based at Taplow police base, said: "This is a shocking incident involving two young offenders, who ran off empty handed leaving the victim bleeding and obviously shaken.”

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
