A man has been forced to pay more than £1,500 after illegally dumped rubbish discovered in Iver was traced back to a van he sold a month previously.
Wayne Johnson, 31, of Common Road in Langley, appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on March 29 and pleaded guilty to failing in his duty of care as householder.
An officer at Bucks County Council found a pile of waste dumped in Holly Bush Lane in August 2016 which was traced back to Mr Johnson.
The court heard Mr Johnson sold his old Ford Transit van in July 2016 which was full of his waste when it changed hands.
He had made no arrangements for the disposal of the rubbish and failed to carry out any checks on the person who was buying the van.
Giving Mr Johnson credit for an early plea magistrates fined him £405, and they ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £1,092.50 as well as a victim surcharge of £40.
The case was prosecuted by Bucks County Council working on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire.
