Police are searching for two men following a “vicious and sustained” attack on an officer in High Wycombe.

It comes after the officer was punched in the face last Wednesday (August 30), prompting police to launch a dashcam footage appeal.

Thames Valley Police said they want to speak to 34-year-old Gareth Drummond and 46-year-old Amos Bacchus, whom the plain-clothed officer is believed to have spoken to between around 6.45pm and 7pm, before the attack near Strata House, in West Wycombe Road.

Drummond has been described as white, 5ft 10ins, of large build, with black short hair. Bacchus has been described as black, 5ft 9ins, thin with greying hair.

Both men are known to frequent the West Wycombe Road area of High Wycombe.

Detective chief inspector Kelly Glister, said: “We are continuing to investigate this assault of a constable and we are making an appeal to the public - if you see either of these men I would advise you not to approach them, but instead call 999, and allow us to respond quickly and appropriately.

“I am also continuing to appeal to anyone with any information about the incident or any dashcam footage to contact police as this could assist the investigation.”

Superintendent Kevin Brown, Local Police Area Commander for Wycombe, said: “This was a vicious and sustained attack on a police constable going about his duty to keep the communities of High Wycombe safe.

“Being assaulted should never be considered to be an occupational hazard of being a police officer.

“Thankfully after receiving treatment the officer has been able to leave hospital and is recuperating at home. We are continuing to support him during his recovery from his injuries.”

Anyone with information is being urged to call 101 quoting 43170258034, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
