A 20-year-old man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer following a “hit-and-run” in which the officer was left with head injuries.

Corey Allard, of no fixed abode, has today (Friday) been charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of dangerous driving.

He has also charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm for an unrelated offence.

It comes after a red Vauxhall Astra crashed into a police officer in Market Square, Aylesbury, at around 3.20pm on Tuesday.

A 27-year-old woman from High Wycombe who was arrested yesterday (Thursday) on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation.

Allard is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court today.
