BNU among safest universities in the country
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE New University is among the safest institutions in the country, a study has revealed.
BNU - based in Wycombe, with a nursing campus in Uxbridge - finished 21st in a table published by The Complete University Guide.
It used police figures to measure crime rates within a three-mile radius of the 103 universities in England and Wales.
Buckingham University is top of the league table with the lowest crime figures in its vicinity. Crime rates are highest around the London Metropolitan University’s facilities.
The guide only focused on burglary, robbery and violent crimes, which it says “are most relevant to students”.
Bernard Kingston, founder of the guide, says it enables potential students “to assess the risks for individual institutions”
Dr Kingston added: "Quality of tuition and the prospects for employment after graduation are key elements in choosing a university course.
“But it is important not to overlook other aspects of the environment in which the student will be living for three or more years.
"Our university cities do not exist in isolation from the communities within which they are located, and, regrettably, crime is a constant presence."

Bucks New Uni may be one of the safest university... But is one of the worse universities to go to in terms of teaching and graduation. It is ranked #93 in the UKs university ranking list.

.
Also one of things that drags it down is the graduate employment prospects which is one of the lowest in the country.
.
That also may be reflected by the type of courses on offer , which are not very popular or marketable nowadays with employers.
.
And it is very 'New' whereas Oxford and Cambridge etc have had several centuries to get their act together.
