VIDEO rental store Blockbuster in High Wycombe closed on Saturday to make way for a major redevelopment.
The store is one of several shops along Oxford Road that has been bought by supermarket giant Sainsbury's, which plans to use the land to build a 62,000sq ft store.
A planning application was submitted by Sainsbury's in September to Wycombe District Council for consideration.
Customers to the store last week discovered they were not able to rent any videos or DVDs from Blockbuster, which was having a clearance sale to get rid of its stock.
A spokesman for Blockbuster said any members at the Oxford Road store could transfer their membership to one of their stores in West Street, Marlow, Grove Court, Beaconsfield or Park Parade, in Hazlemere.
He added: "Blockbuster has more than 700 stores across the country and sometimes it is necessary to move.
"But if the right property became available in High Wycombe I'm sure we would consider it."
