10:40am Tuesday 24th November 2009 in Eden Xmas Choir 09
THERE were scenes of excitement in Eden on Thursday as eight primary school choirs battled it out in the first heat of the Eden Christmas Choir Competition.
Shoppers watched as the talented schoolchildren sang for judges Lyn Blencowe from Amersham A Cappella, Eden’s Fiona Wilkes and Bucks Free Press reporter Simon Farr. Monks Risborough C of E School kicked the show off with the classic Merry Christmas Everyone, while Crown House School, Frieth School, the Disraeli School and the well supported Juniper School all gave rousing renditions of festive favourites.
After much deliberation Stokenchurch Primary School, Hotspur School and High March Primary School were put through to the grand final which will be held at Eden on Saturday, December 12.
Daniel Tomkinson, Eden centre director, said: “The first heat went really well and we’re thrilled with the standard of choirs that entered.
“It proves this competition is going to a be a tough one to judge and we’re really looking forward to hearing the secondary school and community choirs this week, to see who will join the winning Primary school choirs in the Grand Final.”
The secondary school heat will be on Thursday evening outside Eden’s Starbucks outlet.
