11:48am Wednesday 9th December 2009 in Eden Xmas Choir 09
FORMER X Factor hopeful and One True Voice band member Daniel Pearce is guest judge at the Eden Xmas Choir Competition final on Saturday afternoon.
It will be truly an X-tra special occasion with the contest finishing on the same day as the TV X Factor final.
Daniel, 31, of Totteridge, will help choose the winner of the primary school, secondary school and community choir sections.
Bucks Free Press readers have also had their chance to have their say with readers’ votes being taken into account by the judges at the final.
The final takes place outside of Starbucks at Eden from 2-4pm on Saturday with £3,000 in prize money at stake.
Pupils at Stokenchurch Primary School were said to be thrilled to be in the final. A statement from the school said: “We are so excited about being in the Final. We have thoroughly enjoyed our Eden Xmas Choir experience so far, and we are absolutely.
I have no doubt that the whole experience will stay with the children for many years to come. If the judges do decide that we deserve to be the winners of this competition, we would use the money to enrich our pupils’ learning experience of music for many years to come”.
And their rivals from High March Voices, High March Primary School , Beaconsfield, said: “The girls and staff of High March School are thrilled to have got to the final of the Eden Christmas Choir Competition. The girls love singing and there is a strong choral tradition at the school. We feel that the activity has many benefits for them, not least in the building of confidence and self-esteem.
The girls are very excited that we have a new teacher of brass instruments at the school and, if we were to win the competition, we would use the prize money to purchase instruments so that girls could take up the trombone”.
Children at The Holtspur School Choir, Holtspur Primary School , Beaconsfield have been coming up with ideas of what to spend the prize money on should they win.
Jade said: “I would like the money to go towards some new musical instruments for the music room.”
Katie said: “I think we could buy some new benches for the music room as the ones we have are all different sizes.”
Members of the group said: “It would be really good fun to go to theatre and see a musical.”
Emma said: “We would like some instruments for the playground that we could use to help the younger children learn how to play.”
While Kate said: “I think that we could use the money to buy some new microphones as the ones we have are not very good!”
