CHILDREN packed the hall of a High Wycombe school yesterday for a teddy bear themed symphony concert.
All 200 seats were filled in the John Hampden Grammar School hall, forcing audience members to perch on window sills and the stage.
The children brought along their teddies and one youngster even came dressed as a bear.
The performance by the 60 piece Wycombe Sinfonia orchestra featured “The Three Bears” by Eric Coates, along with music by Haydn, Smetana and Rimsky-Korsakov.
Conductor John Dunnett said: “It went very well. We had an amazing crowd.”
The highlight of the show was when a trombonist dressed as a bear appeared, dancing through the crowd as he played to the music.
Mr Dunnett said: “That went down fantastically – he played it up for all he was worth.”
Organisers gave out prize mugs with miniature teddy bears to the two children who brought along the best-dressed bears and the child who came in a bear costume.
Wycombe Sinfonia celebrates its 25th anniversary next year.
To mark the occasion musicians are planning to recreate the orchestra's first concert.
The event next January will feature music from Sergei Prokofiev's “Peter and the Wolf” - a piece the orchestra first played 25 years ago.
