Parents to learn of Buckinghamshire primary school offers

PARENTS will tonight begin to receive offers for primary school places – and we want to hear your experiences.

Letters were today posted by Buckinghamshire County Council, the body responsible for setting admissions arrangements.

Those who signed up to receive news by email will be notified from 6pm while information will be placed on the council’s website from midnight.

What are your experiences? Leave your comments below or email bfpnews@london.newsquest.co.uk.

They were asked to rank three schools, in order of preference. Parents can appeal and these can run up to the beginning of the September term.

A BCC report on last year’s admissions (see link, bottom of story) says: “In the main the arrangements worked well.

“In a few cases catchment children could not secure places at their catchment preference school and the situation had not resolved over time before the beginning of term.”

In the initial allocation, 86 per cent of reception and 93 per cent of junior children were offered a place at their first preference school, another BCC report says.

The offer information seems to have been uploaded sometime between 8am-9am this morning, finally. Still no e-mail - looks like the postman will beat them to it!

Got my news from the online portal, and it was good news!! It also says on there that the e-mails won't be going out until 18th Feb, so don't hold your breath waiting. Best to look online or wait for the letter to arrive today.
