THREE women had even more reason to celebrate the start of the new year as they gave birth on Friday at Wycombe Hospital.
Lili Drummond was the first arrival on New Year's Day at 10.44am weighing 8lb 1oz to proud parents Jeni, 36 and Andrew, 38 from Marlow Bottom.
The couple, who also have a two-year-old son called Josh, said the service at the mid-wife led birth centre was excellent.
Wycombe Hospital has had only midwife led births since October 19 after doctor-led births were transferred to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.
Mrs Drummond said: “It was excellent- very calm and professional. They looked after us very well.
“I would definitely go back if I had another baby.”
Lili was due on January 4 but as Josh was born two weeks early they were expecting her around Christmas day.
Mrs Drummond added: “It is great Lili was born on New Year's Day as she can have lots of good birthday celebrations and no one can forget her birthday.”
Little Dominik Zalewski came along next at 1.38pm weighing 8lb.
He is the first born of Anna Osmanska, 26 from Old Coach Drive, High Wycombe and the second child of dad, Greg Zalewski, 25.
Mr Zalewski said: “He was expected on January 5. It was a difficult birth as she had a 31 hour labour.
“She was so tired but Dominik is doing very well. The service was very good and everyone was very helpful.”
Jamie Banks, 19, from Milton Road in Chesham who gave birth to daughter Whitney at 5.34pm said the staff were really nice and looked after her well.
Whitney is Jamie's first child and weighed 7lb 6 oz and was due on December 29.
Jamie said: “I wanted her to be born on New Year's Day as it will be nice for her birthday celebrations.
“I was in labour for three days but I only had gas and air for the last three house.”
