Hand Back Our Hospital

We have improved despite challenges, says Buckinghamshire hospital boss

A HOSPITAL boss said last year was ‘very challenging’ – but the quality of care had improved.

Anne Eden said ‘the financial backdrop was difficult and continues to be’ at Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Yet the trust’s quality of services rating from NHS regulator The Care Quality Commission rose from ‘weak’ to ‘fair’ and ‘good’ over the last three years, she said.

She said at its AGM this week: “I’m delighted to tell you that we did improve the performance of the trust.”

Its score for financial management fell to weak, the worst score.

Ms Eden said ‘quality and safety is at the top of the agenda’ with just two MRSA infection cases shown to have come from trust hospitals.

She said BHT taking on community-based staff from another authority, NHS Buckinghamshire, would ‘simplify’ county healthcare.

And she said a GP-staffed health centre at Wycombe was taking pressure off A&E.

A patient survey found 90 per cent rated their care excellent, very good or good, she said.

Yet the report made no direct mention of the October loss of doctor-led births from Wycombe Hospital. It said it was ‘improving the midwifery-led service’.

And it did not include the loss of major specialities including orthopaedics and respiratory medicine from Amersham Hospital.

Cover-Up time again - "the report made no direct mention of the October loss of doctor-led births from Wycombe Hospital".
.
Cover-Up time again - "it did not include the loss of major specialities including orthopaedics and respiratory medicine from Amersham Hospital"
.
Finacially inept - "Its score for financial management fell to weak, the worst score. "
.
And as per a previous post on a similar story, Ms Anne Eden is overpaid to the tune of £160,000 plus bonuses for this mismanagement.
.
Time for her to go, and without any golden handshake or bonuses!

IMPROVED HOW??
Deeply in debt,
Cutting staff(and wards no doubt), Closing maternity at Wycombe,
Closing clinics at Amersham,
Having to take on a "turnaround director".
Perhaps all our services at Wycombe will eventually
"be improved" by removing them all together.
Could the running of the hospital trust "be improved" by the resignation and removal of these apparently inept senior managers.

"She said BHT taking on community-based staff from another authority, NHS Buckinghamshire, would ‘simplify’ county healthcare. "
What, by handing the hospital trust another organisation to"manage" . How much debt is that part going to be in next year??
Yes Dear it must have been very challenging last year, you said that last year as well.
Are you also going to wheel out those old chestnuts " unexpected demand and unprecedented levels of service requirement" like last year. Heres a little help for you. It's only unexpected once, then it becomes routine.
Perhaps the realisation that 2 tiny hospitals and a growing population mean a need for more beds. That may be why you have to keep opening extra bed spaces all year long.
Hang on i don't get paid £160,000 and i can work that out, perhaps i can get on the gravy train after all.

BFP please start asking these questions, i would love to hear the answers

What absolute rubbish the CEO Ann Eden doles out.
Services improved: Nonsense
Babies born at the side of the road
Waiting times for operations increased from 18 to 26 weeks.
Closing wards and cottage hospitals
Closing A&E services
Branded as one of the worst NHS hospital Trusts in the UK
Having the South East area having to put in a director to get them back on track
Paying out record redundancy monies to staff they have sacked.
Closing wards due to lack of staff.

Oh yes they have improved the Trust Anne Eden said at the AGM
Who is she kidding, if you believe that you will believe anything she says.
Why should you believe her, well the Council does, the Scrutiny Committee at Bucks County Council does, the Link does so why shouldn’t you..
