MAYOR Cllr Darren Hayday is urging people to join an NHS protest march in London on Wednesday.
High Wycombe's first citizen felt strongly enough about moving services at Wycombe to attend a protest march in Banbury on Saturday. This was organised by councillors from that area who want to keep their health services rather than see them move to Oxford. He is now urging residents to attend the national march against hospital cuts which will take place in London on November 1.
He said: "I would urge anyone to go down there, because the current state of the NHS is absolutely diabolical, including the possible change of removing A & E at High Wycombe. It's not fair that people have to go to Stoke Mandeville and Wexham."
As well as supporting our campaign, he has also praised the work of our Bucks MPs and the Star.
He added: "I'm a strong supporter of the work the paper's done. It shows it's a very important issue. It's something that people are very passionate about. I also support the action that our local MPs are doing in Westminster to make the issue heard."
He said it wouldn't be right if this service was taken away and he added: "We won't have a hospital in the end if it carries on like this, we'll just to have to heal ourselves."

Star editor Steve Cohen launched the campaign after bosses at the Bucks Hospitals' NHS Trust announced more services could be moved due to pressure from the Department of Health. They stressed there are no plans at present but added they could not rule out any future changes.
The march in London, which is organised by the National Pensioners' Convention, starts at York Road, Waterloo on Wednesday, November 1 at 11.30am. See www.keepournhspublic.com
