A RUSSIAN grandmother with a history of depression hanged herself while visiting her family, an inquest heard today.
Nadezda Semenova, 60, killed herself during a visit to see her daughter Marina on July 24.
She had been staying with the family at their home in Camp Road, Gerrards Cross, for around two and a half weeks before she hanged herself with a belt from an overhead light in the property’s garage.
The inquest at Amersham Coroner’s Court was told Mrs Semenova, who lived alone in Russia, had a history of depression.
She did not leave a note and had not said anything about killing herself to her family.
Her son-in-law Russell Allen said: “Marina’s sister wasn’t overly surprised to hear.
“They spoke to her doctor in Russia and they said this is pretty much the way these things end up.”
Coroner Richard Hulett said Mrs Semenova suffered from “powerful depression”.
He said: “That morning she was overtaken by suicidal thoughts. Sadly, this is a very straightforward case.”
Mr Hulett recorded Mrs Semenova took her own life.

I’ve decided to embark on a new career. For years I’ve depended on the goodness of someone else paying me a salary for my journalistic wares. It hasn’t earned me a fortune, but at least it’s kept a roof over my head with enough left to feed the cat.
