A REVIEW into the sale of former Ministry of Defence land in Beaconsfield to an Amersham-based property company has been withdrawn, the Bucks Free Press can reveal.

The sale of Wilton Park to Inland Homes was disputed by rival developers Jansons Property who called for a judicial review into the sale.

However, it is understood the latter has now withdrawn their protests and ended the legal proceedings.

The historical area in Beaconsfield Old Town could see about 350 homes built as well as a possible new community hub.

In a joint statement, the two property companies said: “Following discussions between Inland Homes and Jansons Property Developers it has been agreed that the judicial review of Ministry of Defence's decision to sell the Wilton Park site will be withdrawn.

“Both Inland Homes and Jansons Property Developers share South Buckingham District Council's vision for a high quality, residential led mixed-use development at Wilton Park.

“This will provide much needed new homes, employment opportunities, community facilities and open space.

“It was agreed that the local community would benefit most by Inland Homes and Jansons Property Developers working together and coordinating their efforts to bring forward the timely development of Wilton Park.”

Mike Elliott, the chairman of the Wilton Park Watch, said: “I think in one way it is good that this will not be in the courts for month’s maybe years, it means plans can finally move forward after what has been a period of silence.

“The news they have withdrawn means we will be growing closer to a new development and closer to a relief road.

“Having said that, it remains to be seen if it is the best for this development and as the Wilton Park Watch we will continue to campaign to ensure the best development for current and future residents of Beaconsfield.”
