Trapped pigeon rescued by firefighters in Amersham


FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a pigeon trapped behind a gas fire in Amersham last night.

A crew from Amersham fire station were called to release the bird from a house in Hazell Park at 6.32pm yesterday.

The pigeon was uninjured, firefighters said.

Oh alright - I'll say the obvious! A missed opportunity to save the council a few pennies there! Perhaps roasting behind a gas fire isn't quite as humane as neck breaking....

Thank goodness our intrepid firefighters just act, and don't discuss beforehand!

As a householder, it is most distressing to get anything stuck in your chimney particularly if it's alive.

I don't doubt that the next time a firefighter gets lodged in a chimney ( Christmas...? ) 'Clive' and his pigeon mates will reciprocate by rushing to the rescue.
