WATER was spraying across a road in Holtspur for more than 14 hours earlier this week after an underground pipe was damaged by builders, Thames Water said.

The water started spraying from one side of the ride to the other in Mayflower Way at about 3pm on Tuesday, June 24.

Thames Water has told the Bucks Free Press it was caused after a builder, working on a new development on the road, accidently cut into it with a disc cutter.

They said: “We were called out to a burst main after a builder cut through a small section of pipe. Water supplies in the area were not affected by our repair work, which was completed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.”

Steve Amery, a resident on the road, said: “It is a building site these things often happen. It hasn’t really had much of an effect on us.”
