A TOWN will forever be preserved on the internet after a community archive group received a £10,000 grant.

Members of The Beaconsfield Archive Project say they are delighted to receive the money in an attempt to catalogue the ‘rich history’ of the town.

The money was donated from the Heritage Lottery Fund and it will cover the cost of training volunteers to conserve the town’s history, and make it available to the community.

Beaconsfield Archive Committee member, Michael Grace, said: “We are delighted that we have been awarded this grant and we can’t wait to get started on our project.

“Our archive, at present, is not accessible to the public and we are keen to share it with the wider community so that it can be used and appreciated by all.

“This will mean that the rich history of our beautiful historic market town will not be lost to future generations.”

The group have also received donations from other community groups and businesses including BOTRA, the Beaconsfield Town Council, the Rotary Club, Waitrose and others.
