OUTDOOR gym equipment, which has cost about £20,000, will soon be available in Holtspur, with work due to start next month.

The new apparatus will be installed in Holtspur Park as part of a wider initiative to improve Holtspur Way Recreation Ground, in Beaconsfield.

After months of fundraising, organisers are looking forward to finally have the new equipment available to the public.

Leader of Beaconsfield Town Council, Alan Walters, said although he has not been directly involved in the plans, he believes it will have a good impact on the community.

He said: “I am enthusiastic that this equipment will be really good for the area. A lot of hard work has gone into it and I think it will be used a lot.

“I know the equipment has been ordered and they are hoping to start soon, from what I have seen it looks like it will be a good addition.”

Although available for people of all ages, the equipment is likely to be used from people above the age of 12.

As part of the proposal for the equipment the influential Friends of Holtspur Park group were formed.

Cllr Walters also believes the gym apparatus will be a big improvement like it was in Beaconsfield Old Town.

He said: “We had equipment installed in Malthouse Square too (in 2012) and that seems to have proved popular and I believe this new equipment will too.”
