TREACHEROUS weather failed to dampen the moods of Beaconsfield Country Fayre goers this year as residents once again dug-deep for charity.

Earlier this week, organisers on the Beaconsfield Country Fayre committee announced this year’s celebrations, which were held on the August Bank Holiday, helped raise £6,500 for charity.

Despite the appalling weather on the day, they were more than happy with the money raised for various South Bucks charities.

Committee co-chairman Kathryn Grudgings said: “Despite the terrible weather, it was so gratifying to know that once all the pledges came in, we were still able to raise so much from the day and support local charities with sizable donations.”

A £500 donation will be made to Saunderton-based charity, Child Bereavement UK. The group supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.

The rest of the money will be split in thirds and shared between Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care, Friends of St Mary’s Church, while the last third is to be divided equally between the Lions, the Round Table and the Rotary Club.

In the past, the Beaconsfield Country Fayre, one of the town’s showcase events, has even made a name for itself outside of the UK.

The Country Fayre’s Great Balloon Race is one of the events participants particularly enjoy with a previous winners balloon making it all the way to Germany.

However, because of the bad weather during the event, the winning entry came from Totteridge, in High Wycombe – only about five miles away.
