A CHRISTMAS Fair has helped raise more than £20,000 to improve the working environment of a school in Beaconsfield.

Staff, students and parents involved in the Beaconsfield High School helped organise the event which about 1,000 people attended.

The Wattleton Road school had “a real buzz about the place” on Saturday, November 29, the headteacher said.

Annette France said: “Parents, teachers and students were out in force and we were delighted to welcome a number of visitors from the wider community, too.

“One particular highlight was the cake stall where winners of both the student and parent cake competitions were on display and literally hundreds of cakes were sold. The raffle, too, caught everyone’s imagination this year.

“Sainsbury’s allowed us to sell outside their store to get sales moving and, with strong students sales added, we sold more than £7,000 worth of tickets.”

Ms France also thanked the Young Enterprise group, the Friends of Beaconsfield High School and their stall sponsors.
