Thousands joined in the annual Festival of Lights display in Beaconsfield this week and with the help of some new lights the town did not disappoint in their showpiece Christmas event.

There were things for everyone to do throughout the evening, which started with a parade of school children carrying Christmas lanterns through the town.

The youngsters also featured in the evening’s entertainment on Wednesday as they took to the stage to sing in their choir groups.

Organised by the Rotary Club, the event is always enjoyed by spectators and shops in the town even stayed open late to offer visitors some light retail therapy.

Chairman of the Beaconsfield Rotary Club and Beaconsfield Town Councillor, Janet Simmonds, said it was a “fantastic night”.

She said: “I was marshalling traffic on the evening, but I think there were quite a lot of people here and it all seemed to go down really well.

“We obviously had the new lights which I thought we were nice, and hopefully we can continue to put on a show next year.”
