Student shocked at being robbed in 'nice' Beaconsfield

A STUDENT has told how he was robbed by three youths in Beaconsfield Old Town, despite trying to talk them out of it.

Tom Reynolds, 31, was approached by three white youths, all aged about 17, as he passed the One Stop shop in Aylesbury End.

When one of the boys demanded he hand over his HTC smart phone, he tried talking to them.

But when the youth became angry Tom threw the phone onto some snow. The youths then picked it up and ran in the direction of the A40.

Tom, who is on a course at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield, told the Bucks Free Press: “I did think about refusing but it’s not worth it.

“It’s quite ironic for it to happen in Beaconsfield, it’s such a nice place. I live in Tottenham where all the riots were last year, and I’ve never had any problems there.”

“It was a bit scary but it’s not going to change my life.”

The incident happened just after midnight on February 5. Police released details today and are appealing for witnesses.

Officers said one of the youths had seemed unhappy with what was happening, telling the victim his friend was ‘not usually like this’.

Police said: “He was a bit shorter than his friends, with brown or gingerish curly hair and is slightly chubby.”

The boy who demanded the phone is described as average build, with short light brown hair, and clean shaven. He was wearing a hooded top with the hood down and a jacket over the top.

The second youth, who did not say anything, was clean shaven and was wearing a green hooded top with the hood up and a jacket over his hooded top.

All three boys are about 5ft 9ins.

Anyone who recognises the description of the offenders or has any information should contact PC Claire Lloyd via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

For Heaven's sake don't tell Mayor Richard Keith, or he will be rushing off to The Beaconsfield School to give the pupils the third degree.

Not even their parents taught them the meaning of the word no... so what chance eh?

Should have gone boo before he ditched the phone... or thrown it onto concrete to deprive them.

I wonder where it is now seeing if they can be bothered they can track it!

Is there anything such thing as a “nice” town any more?

Years ago Wycombe used to be “nice” but just look what has happened to our town over the intervening years....

try stop being so "nice" to the Beaconsfield gentleman muggers!
Excuse me Sir, please could I relieve you of your portable telephone?" "Why of course kind Sir, but I will make you work for it, pick it up from that bit of snow I placed it upon".

I concur. He should have bitten the leaders nose off. That would have learnt them a lesson.

Yep, they were teenagers as said in the article. Go for the leader, hard and fast, the others will soon scatter.

During October 2011, my husband was attacked by two hooded youths on his way home from Beaconsfield station at around 8pm. Didn't expect this in Beaconsfield, especially having lived in London for years without mishap!
