How dreadfully sad for all concerned. I wonder how experienced the driver of this vehicle was. And 5 youngsters in a car, surely this is never a good idea.

I know people are going to comment on my post, but this is just my opinion.

"this is just my opinion", but hey I'll be a sanctimonious whinge when a kid is dead. Primarily, experience is mostly irrelevant. People have accidents whether they have stupendous amounts of experience or not. 5 youths in a car is no worse than 5 adults holding a conversation, the momentary loss of focus is still there. I'm not denying that youths in a car are frequently idiots, but do you have to flaunt your self-righteous "ooh youths, it's because they're young" attitude now? Grow up. Some kid just died. No one cares about your opinion.

The boy who tragically lost his life happened to be a very close friend of mine during my secondary school years. Can we please refrain from arguing?

Too right! This is definitely NOT the time for speculative, unhelpful comments, opinion or not! Let's all show respect and dignity, express condolences for those who mourn, wish the injured a full and swift recovery, spare a thought for those who had to deal with this horrific accident and leave the police to do all the investigations which will no doubt ensue.

what a pointless comment....show some god **** respect. A death is a death and doesn't need a busy body trying to be sherlock.

The driver had passed thei test and a C4 has 5 seats - so what is the issue with 5 people being in the car. You said you know people will comment about your post so you knew before you posted it that it was perhaps an unsuitable comment for the story.

A young person has lost their life in circumstances that we are not aware of yet.

RIP to the young soul and best wishes to those that are injured - they are going to have this in their thoughts forever.

look it was a reasonable post. It is tragic when any person dies but statistically young people are involved in more accidents and often it is inexperience or lack of fear that is the cause of the accident - I should know because when I was a teenager that was me - luckily in my accident no one was hurt. Just look at the cost to insure a young person! More training is needed so we protect our young drivers.

Time and a place. Comment may be fair, but now is definitely not the time to preach about what's sensible or not. Should have left it after the first sentence, because that's all that matters right now

You take care and do what you can to help your friend, their family and all those involved in this tradgedy. Be assured that lots of us who have never met you or the people involved, are genuinely concerned for you all, saddened by your loss and wishing you solace in your grief.

This site needs taking down OR massively censored.
Many members of our community are grief stricken at the moment. Any discussion of the issues this incident raises is just hurtful to them. All they want to hear is either nothing or something from those very close.
We strangers should say nothing just express any sincere condolences and love to them.
Personally I cannot imagine their agony and my heartful sympathies go out to them.
My son was friends with all of them and was due to going to be out with them that evening. His bewilderment is only surpassed by my own sense of relief. My love to all affected but especially parents of the lad who passed away.

You are statistically more likely to have an accident if you are a young male driver. However, the news article does not state how old the driver was but they were a teenager. Legislation must change to not permit newly passed or young drivers from carrying young passengers - they are too easily distracted. My thoughts are with the family at this sad time.
