Travellers move onto Kingsmead ground
4:39pm Friday 20th July 2012 in Beaconsfield By Rebecca Cain
Travellers move onto Kingsmead ground
TRAVELLERS have moved onto the Kingsmead park in Loudwater this afternoon.
Six caravans and other vehicles have been moved onto the ground by the London Road side of the park. Wycombe District Council has been informed.
One of the travellers called Grace, who did not wish to give her surname, said they had come from Poole and planned to stay for a week or so.
She said there are six families of about 12 adults and 10 children.
Grace said: "It is nice. It is going to be hot tomorrow so we needed to find somewhere nice."

I don't think they would have half the opposition if they respected the area they went to, and tidied up after themselves.
But the rubbish that they leave is disgusting - and then they expect others to tidy up after them.

There are good and bad in all people groups.
Perhaps some of you should take a look at yourself before judging others. Some of your comments don't make you appear particularly pleasant people.

If Councils provided enough official sites then maybe they wouldn't need to just pitch up anywhere.

I wonder how interested VOSA would be in some tax cross-referencing and vehicle inspection.
I'll give you 15 to 1 if all of the vehicles are displaying valid tax!

Prediction. They will leave a unholy mess, which the Council Tax payers in High Wycombe will have to foot the bill.
It is really about time that there with strictly enforced laws stopping this from happening. Comments like sai-diva above are wrong headed. How would he/she like unauthorised "visitors" on their land?

Object to their behaviour, object to their lifestyle choices, but when you start using phrases like 'Pykie' and 'Scum' 'thieving scum bags' then you cross a line. None of you would dream of using the same names in reference to other minorities (at least not on here). There is no where for them to go,they are pushed from pillar to post, ostracised, villified by our 'civilsed society'. Use the powers that be to get them shifted, campaign for somewhere for them to move to,or for changes in the law, but name calling is the behaviour of the playground, you should be ashamed.

Also ask the people who work at Asda if they are honest, they have to put up with the shoplifting, especially the very young children who are taught to steel from the time they can toddle. I have seen this happen.
.
They are aggressive, the Police refuse to go anywhere near them, HMRC turn a blind eye to them not paying their taxes DVLC don't check to see if their vehicles are taxed.
.
I wonder if you would still feel the same if they set up camp at the bottom of your garden. I very much doubt it.

Tigerann I am not either of those insulting words you used, neither am I a gypsy or traveller, but I do know many perfectly good kind and law abiding gypsies who I am proud to call friends.
My point is don't name call and insult a whole people group just because there are some bad folks amongst them. otherwise you'd better start looking at your own kind as there are always some who would shame us. Just think back to last August, amongst those rioting were people of all creeds and colours and origins.

You say that 'some' of them have permanent sites, do you know what proportion have a permanent site? what about those who don't, where do they go?There certainly aren't enough sites in bucks for them, and no provision is being made for them either. Are you of the opinion, often voiced on here that travellers should travel?or do you want to see them driven off of the road and onto traveller ghettos? Do please tell me what your solution is to the lack of permanent sites.
I have seen examples of the behaviour you site amongst 'fixed' estate dwellers, are they to be abused as well?
Why ask a question if you already seem to know the answer? Some travellers are lovely some aren't so I can't answer that one.

Would you be happy to have uninvited visitors on your property?
Are you prepared to clean-up the mess that is left behind?
Are you happy that these people think that they are above the law of the land. Laws which most folk observe?
As I previously commented. If they are the same group who have travelled from Dorset, then the High Wycombe local tax payers will have to pay for the clear-up once they have gone. Down here in Dorset they have illegally camped in Portland, Weymouth, Poundbury and Poole - and in each case have left a terrible mess which the Councils and individuals have had to clear up. Is that really fair on the rest of the population?
Regarding comments on where should they go - the majority of these "travellers" are from the the Republic of Ireland. That is their so-called home. Perhaps it is time to introduce passports between the Irish Republic and the United Kingdom?

sai-diva wrote:Firstly sai-diva I did not say that 'they all have homes back in Ireland'. I said that many of the Irish Travellers have homes in Ireland, in fact, if you can believe the media a high percentage of the houses in a town called Rathkeale in Ireland are owned by Travellers who spend their time in the summer months over here and go back to Ireland when the weather gets cold. If you know different please tell me.

Secondly, no I don't know what proportion have permanent sites, once again if you believe the media many of them have, but they prefer to travel especially in the summer months. And I don't believe that there is a lack of permanent sites, if you know differently tell me. Also, I do not want my taxes to pay for sites for them, they earn decent money and pay no taxes why should I support them?
.
But perhaps you know some that do pay tax on their earnings, if you do please give me at least one example.
